D1 - Justify Ideas In Relation To Current Trends

Judging by current trends in the video games industry, the decision to produce a horror/puzzle game is justified and up to date. Firstly, with the introduction of new consoles, such as the Xbox one and PlayStation 4, games are becoming better and better both in visuals and complexity. The eighth generation of consoles has brought more and more power to developers also with the introduction of virtual reality.

This all comes into play when planning a new and unique game. Many factors must be taken in, from things such as the game engine to whether it will be VR compatible. There are currently a lot of horror games to choose from on the market but not a lot of them include a complex storyline with interesting and gripping puzzles and decision making. Most horror games are made simply to scare the player and their friends for a few hours of fun, whereas Room 109 will focus on the complex storyline and interesting puzzles to keep the player entertained and wanting to play more and more. It won’t be the scariest of games out there neither will it be the best visual looking game, the art style is unique and may take some time to fully adjust to, Room 109 will be aiming to compete with the top games out there right such as Outlast and the likes of the forest. These are all games that focus on the puzzles more than the initial scare factor.

The game will be building in pace and tension right form the very start, this is what will keep players entertained and glued to the screen. As the game progresses throughout it gets more and more gripping with parts of the story beginning to make some sense. The final part of the game is where everything is revealed but in different ways so that everything is different which is the big emphasis on the game that everything the player does and interacts with is different, this is to help keep players entertained and makes them want to enjoy the game all the way till the end.
